I worked with John at the American School in Mexico City and was very sorry to learn of his passing. I was the athletic director of the school between 1973-1975 and can honestly say that Coach Colman ruled the school.! I fondly recall Sundays at John and YaYa's house, grilling tequila pork chops, drinking beer and watching football games. I was thinking of John, decided to do an internet search and sadly learned of his passing. I would love to hear from YaYa or his family members. My phone is 530 368-0742 and my email is wayne@ardg.net.

Coach Colman had a deep impact on my life and 32 years later, after being inspired by him during my two years of playing football under his tutelage; I still feel the positive impact he had in my life.
Coach; you will be missed by many. As for me, my immense gratitude for all you did for me during my time at AHS where you taught me the many values that molded my to being who I am today.

God bless you and yours Coach.

Coach Colman was my P.E. teacher at Bourgade High school during the 1976-1977 school year. He was a great instructor and he even remembered me by name when I saw him again at a store in Tempe some 8 years later. I will never forget that. Rest in peace, Coach!!!

Dear Colman Family,

I feel horrible for your loss but know that there are so many who hurt with you. I first met Coach when I was a sophomore in high school. I was new to Fountain Hills and had never met Coach. One of my friends at the time recommended that I work out at Johns gym. I went in and spoke to him. I didn't have any money so John was quick to make a deal with me. I helped vacuum a couple times a week and John let me come in as often as I wanted. It wasn't very long into our friendship that John started giving me advise on working out "Super Slow". It wasn't long after that, John was putting me through my workouts. We would knock the workout out in 20 min and spend the next 30 min visiting and catching up. John always cared about me and listened to all my young mind had to say. After I graduated John kept training me. When I went to Marine Boot camp John kept in touch and sent me encouraging letters. When ever I came into town John took the time to put me through a workout and catch up. Unfortunately I moved away and my life got hectic and I haven't taken the time to see John in years. I have thought about him often and he is going to be greatly missed. Our loss is Heaven's gain. John I look forward to working out with you again some day.

Semper Fi!
