Larry and I became life long friends starting in the fall of 1943. We kept in contact off and on for all these years and enjoyed visiting him in Az. and he would come to SD. In Jan 2016 he gave me a gift and I felt it was a premonition. I new his parents well and have many memories of the family.

I was sadden to hear the passing of Larry. I first met him back in 1960's when I was a officer with the Vermillion,SD Police Dept. Larry would come back in the Summer months to work in the Patrol area. He was a kind and caring person. His parents were both alive in Vermillion, they two were glad to be with him also. What a talent he had in music, I did not know how much. When back in Vermillion and his shotrt visit we had in the Summer months when I would see him.. Gary Wright, Chief of Police (retired). Vermillion ,SD

Mr. Versteeg was my band director in grade school. He taught me to play the flute and oboe and encouraged me to follow my dreams.

Larry was my band teacher from 3rd to 8th grade. I learned so much from him. He was very nice and supportive.
