I'm very sad to hear about Martin's passing. Although our families were separated; I'm very happy I had the pleasure to finally meet him and his wife Joyce a number of years ago. Most of all, I was extremely happy to present him with his father's Dog Tag from WW II, which his Aunt Sophie had in her possession for 70 years.

I was honored to have Dr. Vanacour as my MPA capstone professor at ASU 9 years ago. He was a wonderfully inspiring man who cared about his students and his community. To his family: Thank you for sharing him with me and my fellow students. He will be missed by many.

I am ever so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many.
He was my favorite City Manager who always was fair in dealing with City business.
May he rest in peace.
