The best of neighbors were found in Max and Phyllis. I will always cherish the special First Day of School plates they gave both of our children. And walking on the trail, we still look for the special garden he made for Phyllis. They are the people of this world that made a difference. If one word could describe Max (and Phyllis) it would be "inspiring". Peace and Blessings to your families. The Kohler Family

My first memories of Max and Phyllis were shortly after their marriage. They lived for a short time in our house west of Grandpa Tom's place. I would sneak up to the house when we were milking to see my special aunt and uncle. Phyllis always had a cookie for me and they took the time to play with me. Max gave me my first plane ride, landing in Grandpa Tom's pasture. While I was in college I got hunt quail with Max at June and George's place. He was a great roll model for me, I miss him.

Tho I didn't know Max, the quote attributed to him reveals a very wise man. What a blessed legacy he has left for his family and friends. My dad served in WWII as well. They truly were the greatest generation. He looks like a happy man at the controls of his plane. May God comfort you in your many wonderful memories of him. Thank you, Sir for your service to us. A grateful fellow American.

Max was truly an amazing humble man and I was so blessed to have known him and be one of his student pilots. I will always treasure the friendship and special memories of Max and Phyllis.
