Turner, Leslie Corrigan
Leslie, of Scottsdale, AZ and Minneapolis, MN, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side, on October 22, 2016, from complications of a stroke. Leslie was born on August 22, 1941, in Minneapolis to Fritz and Mary Corrigan. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, John, children Jeff (Noelle) Turner of Minneapolis, MN, Marcie (Neil) Sullivan, of Simsbury, CT, Jim (Elaine) Turner of Houston, TX, and Andrew (Linnea) Turner of Excelsior, MN; nine grandchildren Brooks (Tamara), Kearney and Mallory Turner, Nick and Kelsey Sullivan, Harrison and Marlie Turner and Mac and Ben Turner, as well as three step grandchildren Harrison, Rob and Sam Pajor. Leslie also leaves her sister Nancy Woodrow (Ken) and brother Fritz Corrigan (Glenda), five nieces and nephews, and many other extended family members and close friends. Leslie was raised in Edina, MN, and Duluth, MN, and graduated from Edina High School in 1959 and Smith College in 1963. She and John married in 1962 and resided in Massachusetts until 1967 when they moved back to Edina where they raised their family. Leslie enjoyed spending time playing golf with her family and friends, as well as traveling the world with John and close friends, and attending her children's and grandchildren's games, concerts and recitals. Leslie made a significant contribution to her community through a lifetime commitment to volunteerism, frequently serving in leadership positions. She served on the Edina City Council from 1980 to 1988. Other organizations served include Greater Twin Cities United Way, Junior League of Minneapolis, Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, Girl Scout Council of Minneapolis, University of Minnesota Women's Athletics Advisory Council, Lakewood Cemetery Board, Edina Human Relations Commission, Association of Metropolitan Municipalities, South Hennepin Human Services Council, Edina Community Education Advisory Board, United States Golf Association, Minnesota Women's Golf Association, University of Minnesota Medical Foundation, to name a few. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 29 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 S. Marquette Ave, Minneapolis, 55403. A reception will follow at the church. The service will also be live-streamed at www.westminstermpls.org. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church (www.westminstermpls.org) or Greater Twin Cities United Way (www.gtcuw.org).
