I feel honored to have met Dave Brubeck, Russell Gloyd, & others with Brubeck.
I sang with his band downtown Charlotte at Spirit Square years ago; in fact, I believe it was on his 60th
or 65th Birthday backstage after the
concert. My church choirmaster at the
time, Al McLanhan, got us invited so that we could meet Dave in person.

I love his music, & so does my husband, William.

I was unmarried when I met him. I was
Alice Goldsmith, & I wore a yellow print long skirt in the performance.

Rest in peace, & play with the angels.

I am saddened for all his family who will miss him.

Robin and I had the priviledge of seeing Mr. Brubeck a few years ago at Berklee. He was 88. We felt so fortunate to be in the same room as a living legend. He shuffled out on stage so feebly and needed help to sit at his piano. I was sad and nervous for him, not knowing what I'd hear. Then he started to play. he brought tears to our eyes. It was as if once he touched the keys, he was 40 again and he BLEW the place away. A truly remarkable and moving experience. Such an important person in our history. Take Five sir.

R.I.P., dear sir and GOD be with you. You'll be missed. I found your music otherwordly, and it inspired me to pursue my own career in music...
