Our profession has lost a founding mother. So grateful for the legacy she has given interpreters and the community we serve. Karen Carlson, CSC, SC:L

Faye was such a delight to me. I've known her since 1985 when I had the treasure of going to church with her. Her gift of communicating with American Sign Language was such an inspiration to me. She helped me as a health educator to better serve the deaf community here in Bakersfield. Even my babies learned sign language. I loved watching her sign every Sunday. But more than that, I loved her warm and welcoming spirit and oh, that smile! She was so very dear and loving a friend to me and I loved her with all my heart.

Faye was one of the first interpreters I met when I began my career at what is now called CSUN. She was a mentor to those of us who were coming into the field of interpreting and have now gone on to become nationally certified, trainers of interpreters, nationally and internationally known for our work. The seeds planted by those such as Faye. I honor the legacy that she left me. God Bless you Faye!
