To Family and Friends of Stan:
My farther George Ammon grew up with Stan in Donora, PA. Dad would tell us many stories about Stan. One in particular I wish to share: Our family moved to Tucson Arizona in 1948, in the 50,s when Saint Louis had spring training in Tucson our dad would attend when he could. When he saw Stan he would just shout his name and Stan would shout back “George” without even seeing his face … that is a friend.
About ten years ago Stan was in Phoenix signing autographs at a sports card show, my wife and I were able to see Stan and show him a picture of my dad and mom and I from the early 40,s … it was so good to meet Stan in person.
