Obituary

Hazel Garbett 09/30/21- 02/14/13 Hazel Garbett was born Hazel Catherine Sylva in Mojave, California, on September 30th, 1921. She married John Robert Garbett and traveled with him during his WWII service. They returned to Mojave after the war, where she gave birth to her son, Allen William Garbett. Hazel is remembered by many as the quick witted attendance secretary of Mojave High School. She loved her family and spent her later years devoted to her two grandchildren --teaching her granddaughter to sew, and encouraging her grandson's love for computers (as he later spent much of his time fixing her computer!). She even loved her "granddog", Spunky. Hazel fought a long battle Alzheimer's disease, throughout which she was lovingly cared for by her daughter-in-law, Cindy. Hazel passed away on February 14th, 2013. She is survived by her son, Allen, his wife Cindy Garbett, and her grandchildren: Amber and Erin Garbett. In respect of Hazel's wishes, no services will be held, and her ashes will remain with family. www.bakersfield.com/obits
