John was born in Sulphur, Oklahoma to Luther H. and Jean Rose Higgins. John grew up in Bakersfield, graduating from Bakersfield High School in 1959. John served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force from April 1960 to April 1966. Thereafter, John worked side by side with his dad at Jim Burke Ford as a body and fender man, ultimately retiring from W. A. Thompson as a warehouse foreman. Following his retirement John cared for his father, took care of his grand kids and love and cherished his family.
John will be remembered for his caring and unconditional love, sense of humor and "spoonerisms". John is survived by his wife Patti, son Sean (Jairus), son Timothy, daughter Tori, grandchildren Maleik, John Daniel and Rosie, and by his former wives Maureen and Trudy. John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister JoAnn. John fought a short and courageous battle with cancer. We love you and will miss you forever John (Dad).
