Doris and my mother, Priscilla Tainter, worked at Towson Presbyterian Church together and had a wonderful friendship. I remember that Doris was very talented and very funny. I babysat for her children a few times when she lived in Lutherville. I have a photo of her from the late 1960s at a party when she was playing the organ at our house and she is leaning back laughing. My condolences to David and Julianna and the rest of your family.

We rejoice in our memories of some 30+ years of singing in her sanctuary choir at TPC. Since I was new to choral singing, it was a glorious time of many worshipful and thrilling musical experiences. She encouraged me to take vocal lessons to begin a late career as a soloist. We will miss everything about her, conducting, but especially her amazing organist skills with a rather poor organ until the end of her career. We imagine she is already lined up for guest appearances on the heavenly organ.
