Calvin Rutherford Lowman, age 91, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, MD, on July 16, 1924, he was the son of the late Gordon Plummer and Bertie Grimes Lowman. A WWII veteran, Mr. Lowman served honorably in the US Army; where he learned to be a machinist. He would eventually work for American Can and lastly James River Corporation as a machinist, retiring in 1988. A longtime resident of Menno Haven; in retirement, Mr. Lowman enjoyed wood working, golfing, fishing, RVing, and his motorcycle. He was the former President of the Computer Club at Menno Haven. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Holsey (husband Edward) of Davidsonville, MD, and Linda Ornelas of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren; and six great-grandsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Robinson Lowman, on September 12, 2005; and two sisters and one brother. Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St, Alexandria, VA 22311.
