I was more fortunate than I can express to have coached with Henry at Perry Hall High for 4 years. Henry taught me almost everything I know about coaching the game and being a leader--but his example taught me about life too. His jovial, never-say-die, live-and-let live approach to life was an amazing example for a guy in his early 20s trying to find his way. The kids and I looked forward to seeing him everyday, just waiting for the next hilarious thing he would do or say, and the next thing we could learn. It is not an exaggeration to say that he was a credit to humanity, and I hope I do half as good a job as a father, husband, provider, and coach as he did. My deepest condolences to Bev and the boys.
As I read this guest registry, the tears flow again, and my heart aches even more. Henry was my dear younger brother. There are no words that can express the loss of Henry. I miss his voice, his big blue eyes and his smile. His love and passion for life and his family and friends was immeasurable. Yes, we know he is in a wonderful peaceful place called Heaven, and for that we should smile, and let the memories of a wonderful man, husband, father, brother, coach and friend keep us in Faith that we may one day reunite with him in Heaven. Keep Henry in your prayers and thoughts, and pray for his sons, Frank, Mitchell, Henry and Eric, to strengthen them during their journey. Through Jesus Christ our Savior, all things are possible...Henry experienced that love.
I want to convey my heart-felt condolences to Henry's family. I played soccer at WVU while Henry was assistant coach. Henry always played soccer and life with great passion. That is the way I will remember him.
All of the ladies at APAS will miss you, Henry. You were part of our business and our family since 1989. Our condolences to your wife and loved ones.
Mr. Henry was definitely one-of-a-kind! His interest and support in Chapel Hill's Music sensations program will always be cherished in my heart! I know that he will continue to live through his three sons that I had the privilege of teaching at Chapel Hill!; Mitchell, Henry and Eric.My heart is heavy and my prayers and love are with you at this time. I pray that God will give you His love His peace, And His strength.
Wow Beverly my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. I happened to see this by looking up Henry Long to see who he was. I was reading posts about how he touched the lives of some soccer friends and how he would be missed. Low and behold he was your husband. I have thought of you often and just wanted to let you know my thoughts and prayers are with you.

So sorry to see a good guy leave us. As we all know soccer keeps us all bonded in some ways and Henry was a big part of that. Great man.

Coach Henry, a great friend, great coach, and an all around great guy. You will be forever missed. We wouldn't have made it as far as we have in our soccer careers without. Thanks for all you did.
Dear Beth and family,
you must know how deeply saddened I was when I found out that Henry had left us. As you know, Henry and I were very good friends and I dare say he was like an older brother to me. I will miss him very much.
I could always rely on Henry whenever I needed help. I came to trust his judgment and wisdom as well. In addition his advice was always so well thought out and helpful. I know my live will never be the same without him. I could never find a better and more caring friend. He has left me with so many wonderful memories. I will cherish them forever.
In Deep Sorrow,
Our deepest sympathy to the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Just a good Guy. Sad for all who've lost him but remember how lucky you were to have him pass through your life. guess this PROVES there is a soccer team in Heaven.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to the Long Family at this time....Henry always had a smile on his face for everyone....he is probably all ready kicking a soccer ball in heaven..Bob and Mary Lou Guerin (Perry Hall, MD)
Henry was one of a kind and he will be missed tremendously. His passion that he put into all he did affected all those around him and inspired them to aspire to be their greatests. His legacy will live on.
Our sincerest sympathies to the entire Long family on the loss of your loved one, Henry. I only knew Henry in the huge soccer circle we all live in. Always a decent player, person and a good guy to be around. He will be missed. Praying God gives you His peace at this difficult time. Lastly, smile like Henry did. It was a great one to be remembered.
Soccer Strong! Henry we will miss you as a friend, combatant, coach and all around nice guy. When the head coach upstairs calls your number, you don't want to come out of the game you want to stay in the game for the full 90. You have some good company on the bench though, say hey to Pep, Wibs, Acky, Joey Maggitti, Harpo and the rest of the team......Soccer players in Baltimore have that common brotherhood found in battle hardened soldiers....till the end we stand together no matter what!
Our deepest sympathies go out to you and your family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you at this most difficult time.
Mr. Henry, you were the biggest influence in my development as a soccer player and just as big an influence in my growth as a person. I'm so fortunate to have had the opportunity to play for you for all those years and I'm truly disappointed that I didn't have the chance to see you recently. I know so many will miss you, but I also know that your legacy as an amazing coach, mentor, and person will not be forgotten. Thanks for all the advice, tough love, and memories, coach.
I had the honor of teaching Mitchell, Henry and Eric through their years at Chapel Hill Elementary. Mr. Long was a great parent helper and the kids loved him. My thoughts and prayers are with with the entire Long family.
Bev and family
We will miss Big Henry and are very grateful you all are in our lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with you
Our sincere sympathy to the Long family. We had the pleasure of being a soccer family for years and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. He was a wonderful mentor and the boys learned so much about soccer and sportmanship.
The Mattern Family
Henry gave endless time to his Family and community. Larger than life and brought a smile to Your Face. Prayers to the Long Family
Two of my boys had honor of having Henry as their assistant coach at Perry Hall these past two years. Many times I would get there early. I always enjoyed watching Henry out in the middle of the action playing against the kids. It was obvious to see how much he loved playing soccer with the boys. He was an inspiration to them and challenged them to give their all for their team. Even though he and Pete expected the boys to work hard, you could tell he made soccer a lot of fun and truly cared about all the boys. Next year is going to be really tough for the boys without him. Maybe they will finally win that State Title next year for Henry.
My deepest sympathy to mrs Peggy, Joan,Michael, Barbie,Beverly, the boys and family. I will always remember the first time I saw Henry again after many years he yelled out to me across the road "Is that you Mary Oliver"? with that hearty spirit and big smile. You will be missed but you have reunited with your old friend Leroy. My prayers are with the family as you look to God to give you peace in this very difficult time. Love Mary Oliver
I will always remember Henry as a larger than life personality telling his stories and making people laugh. He was a great friend to so many and he will be missed. Our prayers go out to Beverly and her family during this difficult time. - Bob and Nancy Gregoire
