I took a course at Loyola from Joanna and also Joe Ciarocchi. What beautiful human beings both of them were. Joanna will be missed by so many--she was delightful. I am so glad I had the opportunity to get to know her.
I had the pleasure of knowing Joanna for many, many years through her work in the field of Problem Gambling.
I'm very sorry to hear of her passing, and my condolences go out to Heather, and all of Joanna's family.
As all who knew her know, she did so very, very much to help educate so many people about the problem of compulsive/pathological gambling, and in the process the people that she helped train are now helping numerous others.
Rest in peace Joanna.

Dear Joanna Franklin's family,
We just learned about the sudden departure of Joanna and we are deeply grieved by it.
It was the year 2005 when I first got to know her online through professionals in the field. Subsequently when we met face to face, it was like meeting a family member. Such warmth, sincerity and kindness she gave to us.
Over the years whenever she visited Singapore to provide training for professionals in addiction, we would take the opportunity to meet up.
We would share with each other about our professional work but most importantly our families and these recent years, her pretty grandchildren.
We last met in March 2013. Although she left suddenly, she will always be missed dearly by all of us.
Our hearts are with you as you journey this difficult time of your loss of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother.

Carl, Katherine and family,
So sorry to hear about Joanna. May your memories bring you comfort and peace at this time difficult time.
To Joanna's family,
I'd like to start by saying I'm really going to miss Joanna. She was a beacon of light in this dark world. She cared about the smallest things that concerned you and she believed in you when you didn't believe in yourself, ask some of her clients. Sometimes people voice what they will do but Joanna said it, and then backed it up with actions! Even after an event, and she may have been tired, Joanna made herself available to the people. Not only was Joanna determined to help you see the best in yourself but in others as well, you felt it when she was teaching. I've often thought about 5-6 friends and colleagues of mine who would have benefitted from her mentorship and professionalism, I know my life has changed because of it. She truly believed in family and spoke of them often, especially her dad, she was so proud that he had lived to see 100. Thank you so much for sharing your wife, mother, grandmother and friend with me, I am most grateful. May the Lord truly bless and keep you in His care through this difficult time. May His peace rest upon you and His love overtake you.
Wishing you all the best,
I am so sorry to hear about your families loss.I just wanted to share with you a bible scripture with you that comforted me during my time of grief. It's at Isaiah 61:2.I hope you find it as encouraging as I did.

She has meant so much to me and to so many, many others whose lives she brightened.
