I remember Hugh as a permanent fixture in the Fourth Floor Composing Room at the Baltimore Sun. I would often visit with he and his brother Ed and we'd always have a good laugh. I know Hugh still cracking jokes with Ed now!

Our prayers are with Hugh and the family and with Hugh's brothers and sister.

Hugh would want to be remembered as a kind and thoughtful person who always had compassion for his neighbor and a man of faith. Since we were living in Atlanta, he always asked how Jan and I were doing.
He did not talk about himself but always asked about our family.

It is not up to us to decide when things will happen, it is God's time frame.
So I realize that the burdens God lays on each of us is a test of our character.
God will not give us more trials or tribulations then we can endure.
God gives us a desire to know the future, but in His mercy never gives us the satisfaction to understand what lies ahead.
So I realize that all we can do, while here on earth, is be happy and do the best we can and love one another.

Everything that happens in this world happens at a time when God chooses.

The time for planting and the time for harvest.
The time for sorrow and the time for joy.
The time for mourning and the time for rejoicing.
The time for our birth and the time for our death.

So farewell dear brother and we will see you in God's eternal kingdom.

Your loving Brother,

Joseph Patrick and Janice Meadowcroft

Our hearts are broken with your passing Hugh and our love and prayers go out to Joan and the entire family. Gordon and I will never forget the many years we shared on Variation Road. You were the first to welcome us to the neighborhood and the next 19 years were spent laughing, sharing stories, good drinks, and long talks in the middle of the road. Your view of the world and sense of humor always entertained and made us laugh. You will be greatly missed here on earth but we are comforted in knowing that heaven now has one of the best.
Our love, hugs, and prayers. Linder and Gordon
