Although I only had the privileged of knowing Bob five years, he was a good friend and mentor. His creative genius will be missed.

I became a friend of Bob's through my love of Stenso stencils. They were my introduction to lettering as a school child over 50 years ago, and you might say they guided me into my present career as a designer of retro-influenced computer fonts.

I first spoke with Bob and his sister Ruth about 40 years ago, then re-connected with Bob a few years back.

I called him regularly, and he was always a humble, pleasant and joyful man despite his many successes. Ego was not part of his makeup.

To say he will be missed is an understatement.

My personal legacy to he and Ruth is that I've amassed [probably] the largest Stenso collection around and became the "unofficial" historian of the company.

Rest in peace, my friend.
