I have read and reread most of Ms Mertz's books that I have lost count. Vicki Bliss, Jacqueline Kirby and other of her protagonists are like old friends. I will miss looking forward to her next novel. My deepest sympathies to her family.

I started reading Barbara's books in 1972. I started, of course, with her thrillers, "Ammie, come home" and "The Crying Child". I don't know how many times I've read them but they still have the power to keep me awake on an all-nighter when nothing else will!
I have (literally) dozens of her books, under Michaels and Peters, on my bookshelves. None of that electronic stuff for me! I really love Jacqueline Kirby, too.
I met Barbara at a book signing at Murder by the Book in Denver, CO. She was charming and funny and I will always think of her with a smile.
Thank you for sharing her with us for all these years.

Dear Family,
I feel as though you are part of my family. I discovered your mother's books years ago and spent many wonderful hours within the pages of those books. I was always waiting for the next Amelia & Emerson book to hit the shelves. She will be greatly missed. I am glad her words still live on in my library.

I pray that you are comforted and the peace of the Lord will be with you during this time.

As a young girl I loved all things Egypt, and it was the Amelia Peabody series that I began in my 30s that rekindled that love and joy. By then I was a trained historian who appreciated the scholarly turn of mind Barbara Mertz brought to her work. When I found out she had studied at the University of Chicago I understood at once why her books read like history as much as like fiction. I am confident Anubis has guided her through the Weighing of the Heart and the scales have balanced.

Even though I am deeply saddened to hear of Ms. Metz passing, it does sound like she lived life to the fullest. I love her work and re read her books frequently.

Deeply saddened to hear of Barbara's passing. I love her books and was hoping to hear of a new publication later this year since I heard that one was possibly in the works. My heart and prayers go out to her family and many friends who will miss her.

Deeply saddened by the death of my favorite author. I always anxiously awaited each new book. My sister and I had a picture taken with her at a book signing and we will always treasure it.

Dearest Family of - I am deeply saddened at this loss. What an amazing woman. I read all of her books and especially enjoyed the audio books. We shall not see an author like here again. She was unique.
