To the young Lakota, please memorialize Mr. White Hat by learning your native language. We non-Native Americans don't want this part of your culture to die. I honor this great man.

MY SORROW AT THE PASSING OF MR. WHITE HAT IS INDESCRIBABLE. I AM NOT NATIVE AMERICAN; HOWEVER, I TRAINED ON THE ROSEBUD RESERVATION FOR PART OF MY MEDICAL TRAINING, AND CAME TO LOVE AND RESPECT THEIR CULTURE. I PRAY SOME YOUNGER LAKOTANS COME ALONG TO KEEP HIS LEGACY ALIVE!

I met Mr. White Hat on several occasions at conferences and events. He was always gracious, kind, and patient, with a deeply held love for Indian people. He will be missed.
