There will never be another like him. One of a kind. He was brilliant in a way that I can't do justice describing. Rest in peace Drew.

Drew was one of a kind. He was a huge guiding light in my journey. So many precious memories, he will always be with me. I look forward to seeing you again.

Very sad to learn this. Drew was my college roommate one year at MSU and a longtime friend. He lived briefly with me in Mill Valley just after I returned from Vietnam. What someone else said fits him to a T: One of a kind. Drew had the ability to light up a room with his charisma when he entered.

One little story: Drew saved my butt when he and I were in the Army at Ft. Knox. Per his obituary he worked at the Headquarters unit when I arrived for Basic Training in 1969. He told me at the time, "Look, if you want a nice Clerk's job here at Headquarters just tell me before the 6th week. We pull orders that week from Basic Training and I can probably get you in." Like a fool I told him, "No." I was a college grad at the time and figured I would get a position attendant to my degree because of that. Hah! My orders came down: Advanced Infantry! I went running to Drew: "Can you help me?" "I don't know," he said. "It may be too late."

On the day I was scheduled to leave for Infantry training a message came to come for an interview at Headquarters. Drew had pulled it off! My parents raced me down for the interview and I got the position. If not for Drew, I might very well not be writing this memoir.

There are many other remembrances too numerous for this space.

Rest peacefully Drew, my dear friend.

Drew was simply one of those persons that was larger than life. From high school, college, and our time together in the San Francisco Bay Area, Drew is burned in my memory as one of the most gregarious and loving personalities that stomped on the tara! Goodbye my friend.
