Alma Lucille (Snow) Gripe
Battle Creek
Alma Lucille (Snow) Gripe, age 103, of Battle Creek, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 3, 2016.
Alma was born in Charlotte, Michigan on July 25, 1912, the daughter of Roy and Florence (Jewett) Snow.
Alma married Charles Elwood Gripe on October 1, 1930, at her parent's home in Battle Creek. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 27, 1971.
Alma is survived by her two daughters, Joyce White of Nashville, MI and Sharon K. Gripe of Battle Creek; great-grandchildren, Brandon (Angie) Roscoe, Amy Rose, Jacob Noteboom, Larry Noteboom, and Rebecca (Justin) Titus; and 12 great great-grandchildren, Alayna Roscoe, Roman Roscoe, Avianna Robinson, Dalton Rose, Danyella Noteboom, Kodee Wolf, Cyleigh Noteboom, Cassidy Noteboom, Caitlyn Noteboom, Hailee Titus, Hannah Titus and Tyler Noteboom. In addition to her husband, the other members of her family that went to be with their Lord were an infant daughter, Janet Ruth Gripe in December of 1942; three grandchildren, Sherry Roscoe, Jeffery Noteboom, David Noteboom; and a brother, Alton Snow.
Early in life Alma did office work for her husband, who ran Gripe-Clifton Oil Company. Most of her life she was a devoted homemaker and loved caring for her husband and family. Alma was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed working on quilts with the Sew-N- Sews at First Presbyterian Church and looked forward to visits with her great-grandchildren and their children.
Friends will be received 1:00-2:00 p.m., the hour prior to services on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Ryan Wolford 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery in Pennfield Township.
