What a great picture! That's how I see him and he always had a smile for me. "you shall know them by their love" Jn.13:35. I realize the passage was referring to Christ's followers and so it was with Larry. I also think of that verse when referring to Larry & my Mom, Ann. They were always in love, that's as it should be. I'm glad they had what so many do not. Thank you, Larry, for all the good years you gave my Mom and inadvertently, all who cared about her. "Always giving" is what you think of when I remember him. What a kind, good man, from the greatest generation, a patriot in so many ways....you leave a big void in this world, looking forward to seeing you in the next. God grant you peace, dear Step-father. First time I met Larry was in August of 1994 and it seems to me like it was yesterday. The year of 94/95 I spent with him and Ann is a very important part of my life. Larry's positive thinking and his optimistic chracter had a positve influence on me. I will always think of him with a smile.

I have enjoyed getting to know Mr. Van Tries over the past few years for his visits at the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. He was a remarkable man, and he and Mrs. Van Tries would always brighten my day. My prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

Larry loved living in Seabrook, Texas. He and Ann worked together in community service whether politically or at St. Vincent DePaul. They served together many years. Larry and Ann enjoyed having foreign exchange students, traveling, sewing, and Larry like to build furniture for their home. He will be remembered as a very giving man and one who always had a cheerful "Hello" and smile. He spent much time in latter years in hospital, but always kept a positive outlook. He wiil be missed.
