Anthony Dzurka Obituary

DZURKA, ANTHONY "TONY" Bay City, Michigan Tony passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, February 4, 2014, at the McLaren Bay Region, age 68 years. He was born April 4, 1945 in Bay City to the late Jack and Rose (Chryczek) Dzurka. Tony graduated from St. Stanislaus High School in 1962 where he was the class President. He married the former Janet Plumley, July 24, 1965, in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. She survives him. Tony worked for G.M. for over 35 years and later retired from the Saturn Plant in Tennessee on November 1, 2004. He enjoyed playing golf, riding and playing in his Mustang Convertible, going to the casino and playing Texas Holdem. Tony also enjoyed reading, loved spending time with grandchildren and his dog Lucy. Tony will always be remembered as a person who was hard working, a true craftsman who could fix anything, person who never got angry and was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. Surviving besides his wife Janet he leaves five children, Robert (Cheryl) Dzurka, Wendy (Brian) Englert, Anthony Dzurka II., Michael Dzurka, Jennifer (Rodney) Nascivera; 17 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister and a brother; Barbara Buczek and her friend Jim, John "Jack" (Jan) Dzurka, father in-law, Robert Plumley and three sisters in-law; Diane (Jack) Rahn, Debbie (Rick) Lee and Julie (Jim) Abriel. He was predeceased by a sister, Annette Dzurka, brother in-law, Richard Buczek and a mother in-law, Agnes Plumley. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. from St. James Church. Fr. Joseph Schabel will officiate with burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ambrose Funeral Home on Thursday from 1- 8 P.M. and at the church on Friday after 10:00 A.M. Tony and I grew up together in the South End. We were best friends into high school. He skipped the 8th grade. I stayed behind. I lost touch with him after high school. I've been in AZ since 1971. JAN AND FAMILY, SO VERY TO READ ABOUT TONY PASSING, OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO YOU, ALL..ERNIE WORKED WITH TONY AT CONSUMERS.STILL REMEMBER THOSE TWO, PUTTING, ON OUR ROOF HOW THEY JUMPED INTO THE POOL FROM THE ROOF, AFTER EACH NIGHT. Jan and family, I was shocked the see that Tony had passed. My deepest, deepest, sympathy. I will always remember the great times when we were kids. Even though we were not that close in our middle ages, I am so glad that we got together for the World Series of Poker a couple of years back. That will always be a cherished memory.
