Betty Hayward Obituary

Hayward, Betty Jane (Schnettler) Munger, Michigan On Wednesday the 15th of February in the year of our Lord 2017 at 10:21 p.m., Betty Jane (nee Schnettler) Hayward joined her husband Wesley Herbert Hayward on the wings of angels for the journey to eternal life. She was born on a "hot" Saturday, July 29, 1922, the daughter of William H. Schnettler, a blacksmith and farmer, and Alvina Zube, who opened her home to family, friends and travelers in Munger, Michigan. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, Dow Chemical secretary, secretary in the Office of Michigan Governor Frank Kelley, 4-H Leader and Sunday School teacher. She will always be remembered for making apple kuchen, applesauce and doll cakes, being firm, classy, calm, witty, Halloween costumes, the "Santa suit," beer can hats, Florida vacations, an angel collection and just being wonderful. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; a son, Brian Lee; and a grandson, Brett Snable. She is survived by her daughters, Sue (Jim) May, Dr. Janis Hayward (Dr. David Smith), sons Alan (Carol) Hayward and Randall (Barb) Hayward; grandchildren Melissa May (Logan White), Marc May, Spencer and Erica Skillman, Rachael Smith (Dr. Joseph Domino), Katie Smith, Wesley (Katie), Travis, Garit, and Colton Hayward and Whitney (Marc VanDenBoom), and a great grandson Cash White. The family wishes to thank the staff at Independence Village of Frankenmuth and Saginaw Covenant Hospital for their caring and compassion. Funeral and Committal Services will be on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Trinity St. James Lutheran Church in Munger. The Rev. Michael G. Stahl will officiate. Private interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 2-8 p.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home. She will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions can be made to The Disabled American Veterans or Trinity-St. James Lutheran Church.

Not sure what to say?

Sue, Alan, Randy and Janis,

Remembering your Mom Juanita Rose ) on this day. There isn't a Christmas that goes by that I don't think of the cards we used to exchange. She always signed it Juanita Rose. I always addressed the card to your Dad and Juanita Rose. A long running joke that neither of us forgot. I loved your Mom very much and have a card she once sent me that I still look back at it for her words if wisdom. Thinking of you all today.

Love,
Patty Wingard
