Betty was a special woman to our whole Ebright family. She and my mother, Leola, were best buddies (and bowling league team mates) back in the 1950's and 60's when both our families were growing up in Bay City. I have SO MANY MEMORIES of all our camping trips, or spending time with her family at their home on Campbell St. Betty always had a big, grinning smile that always welcomed me and she showed us as much love and care and concerns as my own mother. When I graduated from H.S. and had no where to live for 3 months before moving into the college Dorm at Delta College, Betty and Ron took me into their home and gave me food and shelter while I worked a summer job doing grave yard shift at a retirement home/hospital. I don't know what I would have done otherwise since both my parents had re-married and moved out of state. I remember listening to Betty and all her colorful stories about her family and relatives and all sorts of subjects about life. I even remember her as girl scout troop leader for Rosalie and my sister, Marsha. Especially when I got to tag along as the only "man" during a weekend camp out with the girl scouts. (I was about 5 years old at the time, but don't think I didn't feel special being surrounded by all those 1950's beauty queens!). Rosalie was my sister's best friend and Nena and I always played together growing up. I can still remember a song Nena taught me in grade school and I recall her pet hamster and their family dog Cookie. Every kid growing up should be as blessed as our family was having Betty intertwined so closely in our lives.
