Irene, Thinking of you during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of first meeting Don as he interviewed me for hire at Delta College and remember his kindness. Then years later, met you and got to know Don better while visiting my mom at Caretel. My mom (Theresa R) sends her deepest sympathy too. Although Don's illness through in a life challenge your love gave him strength and your dedication evergreen.

Don and I were roommates during my senior year at the University of Illinois. Together we shared many great times and filled a briefcase of memories that we opened each time we met. In spite of his love for the Giants, I know he will be smiling if the Cubs finally win it all this year!

My favorite memory of our dear friend Don is our discussing the old radio program, The Shadow. At Christmas one year I secretly left a CD of the program on his desk. In January, he passed me in the hall, turned and shouted, "It was you!" Then we chanted Lamont Cranston's famous line, "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? ... The Shadow knows! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!" Such wonderful memories of a wonderful man. My love to Don's family.

Don shared his professional gifts willingly with his colleagues and he was one of the most respected Division Chairs and leaders at Delta. He was a gifted writer, a voracious reader, and a person who could disagree with you without being disagreeable. Irene, may the memories of the good times you experienced with Don provide some tranquility and balance to the life you shared with Don most recently. Many of us admire you for your steadfast support.
