John was a great man. Always enjoyed his company, at either work or play. Worked with him to design a sun room addition to his house. At our first meeting he made me a great martini with a salad of his homemade pickled beans and a host of other greens. Had to ask him to make sure the deputies were all busy on my way home. He will be missed.

John's shoes will be impossible to fill in Midland. He touched so many people with his soft touch of love and caring that we will never know. We join with so many others in saying, Well done good and faithful servant.

I wish to extend my sincere thoughts and prayers to Mr. Reder's family, friends and colleagues. I met the former Sheriff Reder in 2002 when he introduced me and my nursing company to the world of correctional nursing at the Midland County Jail. What an honor I will always be grateful for. He always extended the utmost kindness and respect to me as a person and professionally as a correctional nurse. He will be greatly missed by all. Katie King, RN, People To People Network, Inc.

John helped promote and support families in need at West Midland Family Center for many years. His passing is a great shock to us and he will be dearly missed. What a great man.

We are so sorry to hear about John, he was "one of a kind." Always there for so many-----many more than any of us know.
That eventful morning, John send us a joke; The New Hooters Calendar! When I opened it, it was OWLS-----now that's his humor and that's how we'll remember him. No doubt about where he is now

I always saw John at the funeral of a family member ! I suspect he did the same for friends as well.
John came to our house to personally break the news of a death of a young cousin from an auto accident. He was so caring !

My husband was honored to serve with and for John Reder for his many years in law enforcement. We were blessed by his kindness many times! His death is such a loss for Midland County.
