Dear Walsh Family,
I am saddened to hear of Dr. Walsh's passing. I had the honor of working with him and learning from him during my internship at MGH in 84-85. Pat was exceedingly kind, yet firm with us, and helped us find our way as young doctors. His role as DME helped define part of my career when I became a DME some one and two decades later. I remember him and his team in the ER fondly, always teaching, always caring about their patients, and always, always so conscientious in their work. Dr. Walsh's signature is on my graduation diploma, and it will stand out a little more today. I hope my other intern class members have a chance to remember him too.
Regards, and Godspeed.

To Judy and the Walsh family, my heart goes out to you. I thank you for sharing many memories full of laughs. Dr. Walsh had such a vibrant smile that he shared freely. We're all better people having known him. May you find comfort in all of the love being sent to you.

Judy and family,my deepest condolences for your loss. Dr Walsh was such a unique man. He taught innumerable lessons on medicine and life. I recall his famous interview question-" If you had to go to a deserted island alone for a year, what 3 things would you bring and why?" He always taught us to think outside of the box and I thank him for helping me to become the person I am today. He helped mold my medical career. He also gave me much more than medical education and for that , I am truly grateful.

Dr. Walsh was a longtime family friend and colleague of our father. He was a passionate advocate for his patients, a patient mentor, and an irreverent friend. His laugh and smile were unmatched.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Judy and the Walsh family, friends, colleagues and patients during this time of loss.

Judy and family; I'm very saddened to hear of Dr. Walsh's passing. In the mid-1970's, I shadowed Dr. Walsh in the MGH ER and because of him, realized I wanted to be an Emergency Medicine physician. In June 1980, when I graduated from medical school, Pat sent me a "Best Wishes on your Graduation Day" card and wrote the following: "Congratulations Doctor! I am very happy for you but was always quite confident you wound not only succeed but excel. I wish you the very best that a medical career can offer you - I trust you will find your life satisfying and the rewards worth all of your hard work. Always maintain your sensitivity & humaneness. Keep in touch. Warmly Pat Walsh and family"
I've kept his card very close for the past 36 years and to this day, will re-read it after a particularly bad shift in the ED. I greatly appreciate his kindness, wisdom and he will always be fondly remembered.

To fear and love someone all at the same time - the fear came from such a deep respect for his knowledge, skills, compassion and integrity that I didn't want to disappoint him and the love, well, if you knew him then I don't have to explain. Dr. Walsh played an integral part not just in the Doctor I am today but the person too! I will be forever grateful to him! RIP

Dear Judy and family. I respected Pat as mentor, appreciated him as a partner, and was grateful for his friendship. I will miss hearing him say "how's it going Fettski?" Sorry for your irreplaceable loss. RIP Stonewall, you will be remembered.

I started working with Dr. Walsh as I knew him then when he interned at MGH way back in 1969. What a fun and knowledgeable person he was. He remained a person who would take the time to talk to you like an old friend even after I left MGH. I will miss seeing his smiling face. My prayers are with the family during this time.
