One of the best companions in the world -- merry, happy and witty.
October 05, 2014
It's very hard to put into words the sorrow I feel for Ginny's passing. She was intelligent, witty, and filled with a youthful energy that seemed 20 years younger than her years. I worked with her in the library for two decades and she never failed to bring a smile to my face only seconds into any conversation. Sharing book and movie recommendations with her and chatting about sports (particularly baseball) was always a pleasure.

I realize as I've gotten older that If you are lucky, you will meet some interesting and good people in the course of your lifetime. But only a very few people are likely to leave a mark on your life that you cherish and feel honored to have known and shared some time with on planet Earth. Ginny Archer made her mark and will be missed by many.

I worked with Ginny for atleast 14 yrs. before we were split into different units at the library. She was the most energetic, caring, sweet person you could ever ask for. She was very smart and kept up with sports and what was going on in the world. She was a perfectionist at her job. She talked with everyone and was so polite. She was a health nut and always watched what she ate. And was very active, always on the move.

My condolences to Ginny's family.

Until we meet again, Ginny. I can picture your smiles among the angels.

I just learned of Ginny's passing when I attended her estate sale in my apartment complex. I'd had no idea we were neighbors again! Ginny was a housemate of mine in Ann Arbor about 20 years ago, and I have always remembered her fondly. She was such a positive, kind, interesting person. She brought great energy into the house, and I always enjoyed her company. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing.

Ginny was a delightful companion, bright, pretty, humorous, altogether charming.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Ginny's family. I have known Ginny for a little over 18 years. She was my tour guide to UM Library on my first day at work. We worked in the same division and immediately became fast friends. I fondly remember the fun times we had discussing our Art Fair purchases, going to see Harry Potter movies and our adventure at the Toledo Zoo to see the baby Koalas. She was one of the most independent and free spirited people I have ever known. She could be anywhere and quickly strike up conversations with total strangers and make it seem like they were longtime friends. I will miss her sense of humor, intelligence, curiosity, zest for life, her grace and courage. She was a true inspiration in my life and I am happy to have had her as a friend.

Ginny was my mentor at Little Professor Book store. She helped me navigate the way the books were ordered, she helped me with the how to's of great customer service, she was my teacher on the cash register. I think that Karla and Mel knew they had a genuine soul mate in connecting customers with books that would brighten their lives. Thank you Ginny, for being such a dear friend.

My condolences on the loss of your beloved Virginia Archer. May you know that "the God of all comfort" will one day end all suffering and sorrow. Isaiah25:8
