I will miss Super-Bruce but I will remember him with extreme fondness - I will remember him for the person that he was : no pretense - a dry sense of humour - a deep great love for his family and friends - and a wholesome outlook on life. I have known Bruce since around about 1968 and have always held him in high regard: over recent years on my visits to New Zealand we have had some great conversations about fishing - the ones that actually were landed and the ones that got away! No stretching the truth when it came to fishing - he just said it as it was - well I believed so. On one trip back with one of my family, Kerridyn in tow we asked him to take us on a trip to Orekau (not sure of the spelling) - a trip that he used to take school kids on. We scaled the cliffs, Mr Bruce with a large back pack on his back - and we walked into the caves at the end of Waihi Beach - enjoying seeing penguins. Wonderful memories. Another time we took my rental car and went to Matakana Island - every second person that we stopped to seemed to know both Super Bruce and Super Margaret - much laughter on that trip too. Then there were the trips to the Minden to see the orchids in the quarry. I will always remember these excursions - they always had some hilarious moments and always the thermos and a cuppa were part of the routine - o almost forgot the visit of the night cart man at Waihi Beach (best I don't go into details but remember it quite well). On my last trip back in April it was a pleasure to spend a bit of time with him : he will always be remembered with fondness and love for the person that he was - lovely family values and an interest in all that was happening around him. I would like to think of him as having passed into the next room - he is but near - around a corner : waiting - : his pathway of life contained many paths and he touched many people and for this we thank him for the privilege of being part of his life. To all the family : to Super-Margaret: Robbie, Graeme, Jane, and Judith and your families - thank you for making me part of YOUR family - the memories are cherished and I send much love to you all. Thinking of you all at this time. Much love : Lorraine from Brisbane
