Bryce would frequent our bistro often and always brought a genuine touch and much loved humour. Given the hours we worked all the staff appreciated his understanding and polite manners. We became firm friends once we had sold the business and our common love of fishing ment some serious hours on the water north of Auckland. I introduced him to several good mates who also cherished any time spent in his company.
It has taken over a month now to even think about putting any thoughts of his passing in writing due to the anguish and sadness that is felt. Like so many others - just flat out devastated ! I would talk to him almost every day in the last six months ( even when overseas ) trying to help or assist in any way possible with anything he needed..simply tried everything .....
Delightful , caring and genuine are the first of so many qualities that spring to mind as do internal turmoil and struggles to which only now we can feel so very sad and full of despair....
Our lengthy conversations over a few wines and many fishing sessions will forever be both remembered and missed.
They say there is no present like the time and Bryce always gave up his time for anyone who needed it ! A good boar ( boy ) indeed!

To the young 11 year old boy who sat to my right in 1977 at Peachgrove Intermediate in Hamilton, and who became a life long friend. It is incomprehensible that after so many years you are no longer here. We have had so many years of friendship; what will life be without you? I can't imagine as you have always been "here". I will miss you, as will so many of your other friends. You were always kind, generous, considerate and thoughtful. An extraordinarily gifted man - builder, electrician, manager, teacher, and most importantly, respected in your field by all who knew you.

I was always impressed at your open mind and open heart;; so many friends from such a variety of countries and religions. Inspirational.

Goodbye my oldest friend.
