We are saddened to hear of John's passing. Thankfully, with my mother Ivy May (John's cousin), we were able to share times together with John since we returned to NZ in 2010. Our thoughts and prayers are with Margaret and family at this time. Kevin & Su Walker, Remuera.

John May was a very versatile radio announcer stationed at 1ZD in Tauranga in the early 60's.
He was brought up in Takapau and after stints at radio stations in Whangarei and Gisborne took up the position as Senior Announcer, when the New Zealand Broadcasting Service opened the first broadcasting station in Tauranga in 1961.
About 1965, John moved to Auckland where he became a well known horse racing commentator.
