In 1975 while haying, I was invited to church, not by Ivan as I recall, but by one his grandsons. However, in the years that followed, while haying was going on it was difficult to go to Riverside Camp during the day. Ivan would load the Ivan R, a green and white,'73 Impala as I remember, head to camp for the evening service. He would stay until all the "fun" was had afterward, even though he had to get up to milk at 0430, I did not recognize this sacrifice at the time. A selfless man is our Ivan R. May the peace that passeth all understanding guard your hearts and minds at this time of loss. . . for us anyhow.

To Ivan's family and church family, you were all so fortunate to have known such a wonderful man of God. I remember him more specifically from the summers I spent at Riverside Campground and his wife was one of our cooks. What wonderful people. Heaven's angels are rejoicing for sure.

What a sweet sweet man Ivan was. I too have many fond memories of visiting Ivan and Claude at the farm. My grandfather and dad worked the dairy many years before selling to Ivan. So we naturaly made many fun trips to the barn to see the newest calf, kittens in the hayloft and a quick peek at the guy in the corner with a big gold ring in his nose...or the milk processing room. I'd never seen such shiny containers... Not a fingerprint. Great memories.
Rest in peace.

He was a great man, even though he was not our uncle, he always let the children of the neighborhood call him uncle. Great times were had by all at the dairy farm with he & Claude, everybody got an education when it came to the cows. He will be missed by all who had known him. Rest in Peace.

Had a good visit with Gramp on Friday Jan. 4, 2013 with granddaughter, Darlene Ricker Perreault, in his own home. Ivan was resting comfortably in his own bed. Our voices awoke him from his slumber and engaged in some conversation until it was time to rest his weary body again. So, before he drifted back off to sleep. He asked Darlene for a kiss, and she swooped down and he puckered up for her. He then turned towards me. I hesitated....As I noticed his teeth were lying in a cup next to the sink and I said, "ewwwwwwww, I don't kiss men with no teeth" He gave me that gummy grin:) and with a twinkle* in his eye sucked me in...Smooches all around!! xoxo Rest in Peace Dear Ivan

My condolences to Ivan's family. I have many wonderful memories as a child and young adult of Ivan. Every Sunday for many, many years he always had a smile, a hug, and a "how's my girl?" waiting for me at the doors of the old sanctuary of the Wesleyan church. He proves false the old adage "only the good die young" because Ivan was a good, good man and nothing but kind to me. Our loss is Heaven's gain.
