LINCOLN - Jay A. Shedd Birtz, 53, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 26, 2013, at his home. He was born Oct. 2, 1959, in Lincoln, son of Hollis Shedd and Jean (Kneeland) States.
Jay worked most of his life in the woods. He was a skilled skidder and harvester operator. Jay was known for his quick wit and keen sense of humor. He enjoyed many evenings playing guitar and socializing with friends. Jay loved fishing and spending time with family, especially at his mother's camp on Sysladobsis Lake. Jay was one of five children born to Jean States, of Springfield.
He was predeceased by his father, Hollis Shedd; and brother, Harvey Birtz. Jay will be remembered by his devoted brothers and their families, Ronald Birtz and Donna Michaud, Mark Birtz and Melissa Libby, Scott Birtz and Ruth Birtz. He will also be remembered by his beloved children, Jessie Birtz, Nicolas Birtz, Remee Birtz and Cody Birtz; stepdaughter, Angela Coffin; a very special aunt and uncle, Joan and Lawrence Ham, and their families; along with other countless family and friends who were blessed to know him.
