LINCOLN - Jay A. Shedd Birtz, 53, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 26, 2013, at his home. He was born Oct. 2, 1959, in Lincoln, son of Hollis Shedd and Jean (Kneeland) States.

Jay worked most of his life in the woods. He was a skilled skidder and harvester operator. Jay was known for his quick wit and keen sense of humor.
