BREWER - Linwood B. Eldridge, 80, passed away peacefully Nov. 29, 2012, at Orono Commons Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born March 14, 1932, in Brewer, son of Cecil L. and Gretha B. (White) Eldridge.
Linwood and Leola (York) were married in Nov. 30, 1952, and they were married for 60 years. He was an active outdoorsman, with a need for speed. Linwood enjoyed all types of sports, including camping, horse shoes and he was an accomplished water skier. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and provider.
Linwood is survived by his wife, Leola; five sons, Cecil Eldridge of Brewer, Larry Eldridge of Carmel, Robert Eldridge and wife, Cheryl, of Hermon, Mark Eldridge and friend, Lynn, of Millinocket, and Eric Eldridge and wife, Denise, of Hermon; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Sheila Cobb of Brewer; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Dale Eldridge; and sister, Mona Jean Eldridge.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with Pastor Dave Morrison officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Rooms of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, after the service. Interment will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday after the reception at Bay View Cemetery, Jonesport. Those who wish to remember Linwood in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Beacon Hospice, 304 Hancock St., Suite 3A, Bangor, ME 04401.
