My deepest sympathy and prayers reach out to Rick's entire family and huge circle of closest friends and students. Rick was one of my era growing up in the greater Bangor/Brewer area. Someone whose music lifted up our souls and got us enjoying life. A person who started sharing and teaching his talents early on in life and never stopped. I read a post from his dear wife which said - he students are his legacy! How very true and what great things he shared with so many. Nothing can take away the grief of this loss, but, by sharing our thoughts and continuing to reach out & share with others the many types of music Rick played and loved we can all help make this World a better place - just like he did! RIP Rick - play on in God's heavenly band - till we meet again!

It was with great sadness that Nancy and I learned of Rick's passing. Rick was my guitar teacher 35 years ago. He assisted my transition from being a bass player to a guitar player. I will never forget his high level of patience, as well as his excitement when a new song and/or playing concept was learned.

My most memorable and nervous gig with Rick, was when he filled in as a drummer for a band, that I was playing lead guitar for.....what a night.

We'll miss you Rick, but your mark on music and musicians in the Bangor area will live on forever!

Forty nine years ago next week I got a Christmas card from Rick wishing me a Merry Christmas and oh by the way you are the new drummer for the Torquays and rehearsals start right after Christmas. It is still one of the happiest moments of my life and it changed the course of my life forever. I played the next three years with Rick and the Torquays and spent many hours with Rick and his family in Orrington. In 1973 I spent another three years playing with Rick in Harvest. It was our full time job, we played a lot and we traveled a lot. In 2001 Harvest reunited and we practiced nearly every Monday night for nine months and went out and did a few gigs together. In 2003 Rick, Walter Browning(bass player for the Torquays) and myself put together a group called RHIB. The Rick Haseltine Instrumental Band. We played nearly every Monday night at Rick's house for the four years or so playing Ventures and classic rock and roll. We even went out and did several concerts. Thank God we recorded a lot of it. I am so glad that I got to be your friend for forty nine years and I am so very blessed that I got to play so much music with such an unbelievable guitar player. I will miss you.

Having grown up with Rick in Orrington, I will always think of him as "Ricky". He was a genuinely good, kind, caring and extremely talented man who loved people and sharing his knowledge and talent with them. He will be greatly missed by so many. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones.
