Happy Birthday in Heaven dear Brother. I know you are having such a wonderful day with Mama and Daddy and everyone there. I miss you daily.

What a presence still. I vividly remember Col Dockery at VMA 311 and thinking is he Doc or Buzzard? I appreciated our chats and in the morning, a coke in hand. He was different and of strong character. He approached me one day at SOMS Pax Terminal and shared that we had the same enlisted Combat Aircrew wings and I wondered how? He was a rare Mustang. He started at the bottom and went to the top and I respected that immensely. He was a beacon of light for any young buck who was still figuring out where he wanted to go. When I launched his A4 he asked me detailed questions about the bird. I continued to see him on occasion no matter where I was. Thank you for making a difference and best to your family. This is a man anyone would follow.

Saddened to hear of Col. Dockery passing on to his final duty station. As a new Second Lieutenant, he was my first Commanding Officer. He set an example of leadership and service that many aspire to, but very few attain. He will be sorely missed by all of us who were fortunate enough to have served with him. Semper Fidelis

It amazes me that there continues to be postings for my sweet brother. It really helps day to day to hear such amazing stories about him. I hope this will continue and his spirit stays alive in all our lives! Thank you. We miss you dear brother-every day. Your sis-Di

I just learned of Doc's passing. We were together at Da Nang, Okinawa, and El Toro 67-69. We were both enlisted and really had fun. Doc was a character. I finally met Cheryl in Santa Ana in 1969 just before I got out. I had heard him talk about her for 2 years and she was everything he said. Back then Doc always had a coke in his hand. I haven't seen him since 1969 but the world is a little bit less of a good place without Doc here. Rest in Peace Marine!!

One of my biggest heros next to my daddy. The roughest, kindest leader I knew in my 4 year tenure. I will miss him dearly & will always remain a legend in my own mind. -- Tex
