I never personally knew Dr. Skirball, but I'll always have an attachment to him.

I was born in Granite City in 1969 and Dr. Skirball was my mother's doctor, so he brought me into the world. This, in and of itself, isn't an uncommon story, considering many others can probably make the same claim. However, I'm sure I'm probably the only baby he delivered who was named after him.

My parents were searching for the right name to go along with "Robert", and the good doctor's name seemed as good as any to them, so i became Robert Alan Joles.

Thanks for bringing me into the world and lending me the use of your name, Dr. Skirball.

We were all sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad. To the Skirball family, you will always be in our thoughts and prayers. I know your Dad touched a lot of peoples lives. I will cherish a drive around the block in a stick shift car. I was the driver and new at driving a car with a clutch. Only someone who flew planes could get out of that car so calm. It will always bring a smile to my heart-those fun memories. I was only lucky enough to meet both your parents a couple of times. Those few times are those times you treasure and never forget in a lifetime. I only hope I can pass along that welcoming kindness I was given by your Dad and your Mom. Sally, we send you and your family love and prayers. Lynn, Kurt, and Dad(Lou)

To Dick, Donna, Sally, and Bill I am very sorry to hear about your father. I had the pleasure to see and talk to him many times over the years as a pharmaceutical rep. I will always remember our discussions from medicine to scouting days that Dick and I had as young boys. He will be truly missed.
