Barbara kept her sense of humor through everything.. We traded bad jokes right up to the end. I have a voicemail from her on my phone so I can still hear her tell a funny cat story. She thought that was more important than her trials and tribulations. I can only hope to be so brave as her.

Barb was amazing, right up to the end. Her last words to me, a day or two before she passed, were "Do you still hate zucchini?" Long story, going back nearly 40 years, but she eased the awkwardness of our final goodbye.

Ironically, this is the first year ever that I've used precious garden space for zucchini. I was pleased to share this with her... we'd come full-circle. And yes, I still am no fan of zucchini. But so grateful that, through the years, Barb and I overcame past struggles and became good friends. Blessings to you, Lily!

Barbara was a unique person who loved her daughter and grandchildren deeply. She was also one of the most thoughtful people I know, always sending a note for a birthday, anniversary or holiday. The last time I saw her she shared some pictures and reminiscences and Lily was happy that she was learning new stories about her mom that she would be able to hold onto. Lily was a blessing to Barb and we hope the time they had together near the end will bring comfort to Lily through her life. Rest easy Barb.
