Brandon was my cousin. Everyone always talks about how great a ball player he was, which he definitely was. But the Brandon I knew was just a funny, adorable, quick witted kid who always made me crack up. He and my sister were definitely two peas in a pod, always tag teaming me and Brandon's older brother, Brett, teasing us endlessly. No matter how much he teased though, I knew he loved me. He was one of the most loving people I've ever known, he had a giant heart, a sweet smile, and a calming presence. You didn't have to try and be anybody other than yourself with him, we could be as dorky as we wanted together and it didn't matter.I always looked forward to holidays, and summer vacations, because I knew Uncle Brett and Auntie Leaha would be there with Brett Brandon and Brooke.
Auntie and Uncle, I love you so much, and Brett and Brooke I love you guys too. Brandon, you will forever be in my heart and mind, and not a single moment of the day ever goes by that I don't think of you...my heart aches to see you again and give you a big kiss and hug. I know one day I will. I miss you little cousin.

Brandon was a student in my political science class at SDSU several years ago, and I remember him well. He was a good student and hard worker, earning an A in a class that focused on critical thinking and analytical essays. He was diligent in his work; his writing was outstanding. And he did his own work; he was not one of those students who camped out in my office looking for answers. But I enjoyed his personal qualities more. He had a keen sense of who he was while, at the same time, not being full of himself. He could be funny and had a wonderful smile. And he was so respectful---the kind of son that would make any parent proud. I was stunned when I heard the news. I am so sorry for Brandon and, also, for his family who must miss him so very, very much.
