With deepest sympathy. He was a good neighbor and friend to me and my family especially from our childhood. One of the "dead end kids". My sister called him "Roy Rogers".

Sadness fills my heart aas I read of the passing of a pioneer in Collinsville history. Gene's progressive thinking gave the city the Gateway Center as well as many other improvements during his tenure as mayor. He never questioned that what he did would make a positive difference in the city he loved so much.

Sheila, Kim, Rusty, Alison and Rebecca...my sympathies to you and your families in this time of loss. God bless all of you.

Gene was respected and admired by all of his cousins. His vision, energy and courage are reflected in his long list of accomplishments. We will miss him.

My father Joe, Uncle Tony and Gene really enjoyed discussing and comparing their political battles. Gene, say hello to your uncles for me.
