Thoughts & prayers to the family! I bowled at Midway Bowl & St. Clair Bowl with Phil. There is not enough kind & wonderful words that could be said about Phil! God only takes the best!
I only seen a man riding his bike; I never had the pleasure of meeting him, or shaking his hand. Looks like I missed out on someone very special and truly loved by an entire community. Phil if your looking down on your friends always know in your heart you were loved.
To Paula and the family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Phil. I remember him from way back and he was always a good guy. Parayers with you all
I've known Phil for as long as I can remember and know now that I will never forget him. He was probably one of the kindest guys I've ever had the privilege of knowing. I will miss seeing him around in he neighborhood. He truly earned his angel wings here on earth. Until we meet again Phil...
PHIL WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST GUYS I KNEW. HE CAME INTO CARX EVERY MORNING, JUST TO SAY HELLO AND SEE HOW EVERYONE WAS DOING. HE WILL BE MISSED
Sorry for your loss. I remember him when everyone played softball at OLA and kept score

Sorry for your loss. Phil was a genuinely nice man -- he never had a bad thing to say about anyone & always had a smile for everyone! He will be missed.
I remember seeing you in your orange tshirt with your bike as a kid, at everything, helping, laughing, enjoying yourself. I saw you in every parade, and every fair, and you reprimanded me like a friend when I was a crappy teenager. I saw you at work at city hall, and later at the art fair. You were always there, for everyone, for as much as time would allow!! You never met anyone you didn't give the benefit of the doubt to, and you were always smiling and compassionate to all of us. The city lost one of the greatest examples of what all of us should strive to be, but heaven gained one of the best angels in history. God bless Phil!!
You and your family have my deepest sympathy,I didn't see Phil very often, but when I did he was always smiling and we always had a good conversation. He was a great guy!!
My heart and prayers go out to all of his family, friends & the Fairview Heights community. I know he has earned his wings in Heaven for his generous heart & love on this earth. He will be missed!
I have known Phil since I was a little girl. He and my dad bowled together for countless years. My family considered him a life time friend to our family. I listened to my dad sit and tell childhood stories of Phil last night, what bittersweet memories to be able to have. Losing Phil has affected more than just a city. His love and friendship has been felt by endless amounts of people and today, our hearts are heavy. Phil is going to be busy in heaven, Our Lord has big plans for him and I am sure he will make him proud! We will miss you Phil, until we meet again.......
I met Phil through St. Clair Bowl when playing softball and then later bowling on Thursday nights. He was never in a bad mood and always willing to chat. He was a good man. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
Phil was always ready to volunteer at Grace Church, no matter what the event. From greeting people on any given Sunday to setting up for The Bethlehem Journey, and everything in between.
His jokes and hardy laugh will be be missed by all of us.
Our condolences and prayers are with the family.
Phil was such a wonderful person. I met Phil over 20 years ago at St. Clair Bowl and the Softball fields next door. He was a great guy and always in a great mood. It was so good to see him again after so many years when I walked into the McDonalds in Fairview Heights one morning. I was surprised he even remembered me. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Phil never forgot. I'll never forget Phil. He will surely be missed.
I got to see Phil on Thursday nights when I worked at Bel Air Bowl. One of my favorite people hands down. Always had a smile on his face and would do anything for anybody. My thoughts and prayers are with Phil's family.
Phil always volunteered to help at every city function. He had a huge heart and will be sadly missed.
Phil was one of the most honest, nicest and helpful people I had the pleasure of knowing and calling my friend. My sincerest condolences to Phil's family for their loss.
Phil you are my friend and brother in Christ. You will be missed at church. I'll see you in heaven my Brother. God Bless! Troy Meidinger
Phil was a great friend, a fantastic person and he will be missed greatly! My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
My deepest sympathy to the family
Whenever or wherever I saw Phil he would stop me and we'd talk about anything & everything. He'd always keep me updated on his brother Bud and talk about 25 years ago when we were neighbors. He was a gentleman in the truest sense and will be missed. I would call him a friend and a community jewel. Rest is peace old friend.
Phil never met a stranger. He would offer the shirt off his back to someone if they asked and could easily work people more than 1/2 his age into the ground. He will be missed by those that worked with him at Homecoming, Midwest Salute to the Arts, Creative Playground, and countless other events in town. He had the strength of an ox and a heart of gold - made him everyone's go to guy. The city was better because of him and he will be missed but not forgotten.
Phil was one of the nicest guys one could ever meet. He always had a smile on his face and had the gift of gab. You could often find him at Bel Air Bowl or out at a Fairview Legion game, he loved sports and being around people. He will be truly missed!
I have known Phil and his family for many years. What a wonderful guy. He worked so hard to be a great guy. He will be missed.
