I am very saddened to learn of Mr. Houser's passing. He was truly a gentleman in every respect. We both attended Garden Heights Baptist Church together for many years and one thing that even my own mother used to comment on was what a wonderful son he was to his elderly mother. He came to church with her every Sunday and tended to her needs faithfully. I recall that he used to drive her to a rural IL town called Ashley, where they visited extended family on Sunday afternoons. I still think of them whenever I drive by there :) One year at church I headed up a special Mother's Day service and asked Lee if he would like to be one of the speakers to give a tribute to his mom. He was a little hesitant about speaking publicly but in the end he agreed and gave a touching Mother's Day tribute. Lee had a true servant's heart. He also used to faithfully cut the grass at our church. I would drive by and there was Lee out there on the riding mower! Several years ago I ran into him at the YMCA, where he was still squeezing a workout into his busy retirement schedule. He spoke about his love of music and band and had kind words to say about my daughter's school band instructor. He was just a genuinely nice, pleasant man who loved God and others. He was a genuine example of a faithful servant and will forever hold a special place in my memories. I believe he is now safe in the arms of Jesus <3

Lee will be greatly missed. He did so much for so many. He enjoyed life, the Lord's people and great music. He loved the Lord and His Word. We all learned from Lee. He suffered much, but now he
has a new home, full of joy in the midst of God's saints. That can be a comfort for us all in our great loss. Lee touched many lives. We already miss you. Thanks for many good years as a friend and a Godly person. You were a great part of Garden Hgts. Baptist Church for many years! We are proud! Thanks for all you did. You will be remembered for years to come!
