One of the first people I met when I moved here to Illinois. I not much of a talker but you made me talk. I miss you bringing us breakfast at the hucks gas station. I'm gonna miss your smile and how playful you were with us. I'm gonna miss speeding through Caseyville and getting pulled over by you and for some reason you just could not give me a ticket. You are the best and you will never be forgotten. My prayers are with your family.

I remember your first day at Caseyville PD. I knew when you walked through the dispatchers door with that smile that lit up the room, and wonderful, good nature, that Caseyville had been blessed with one of the best! I remember telling you to quit joking before you pressed the button to talk on the radio. I remember telling you to make sure you had written all the information down before hanging up the phone. I can tell you word for word how you messed up your first fire department page. I also remember telling you I couldn't figure out how you were going to eat all the lunch you brought with you every single day. But most of all I remember how passionate you were about learning every aspect of your job. You were an awesome Police officer . You have certainly left your mark on so many peoples' lives. Rest easily now, your work on earth is finished .Your family can be very very proud of you. Each and every person that had the privilege of knowing you will MISS YOU!

Jd's family: I am so so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. JD was a man who pledged his life to protect others, and to have that taken away from him was so very wrong. JD was a just and good man and it is beyind understanding why this happened to him. He was loved and respected by the regular folks of Caseyville and I hope that gives you some peace in this terribly sad time.

I am honored that I knew you and could call you my friend.You will be forever missed and always in my heart. We will miss you always. You will always hold a special place in our hearts and we will miss your smiling face ='( I only wish that he knew how many people supported him before he made the heart-wrenching decision he did. Rest in peace, JD.

No one knew the torment,
that you were going through;
We only kept on seeing
What we really wanted to.

We saw the outward smile,
but not your inner pain;
We never really dreamt,
That you would never smile again.

Forgive us if we failed to see,
What we could do to aid;
Or if we failed to comprehend,
How much you were afraid.

We pray your mental anguish,
Will now forever cease;
And that your deep anxieties,
Will be replaced by peace.

We know your pain invaded,
Every single thought you had;
It made you cry internally,
And deeply, deeply sad.

But we in turn remember,
The good times, not the bad;
We remember when you smiled at us,
And not when you were sad.

So when we think about your life,
We won't dwell upon its close;
We'll remember all the good times,
And forget about life's blows.

We'll remember all the happiness,
The joy and not the tears;
The assurance and the confidence,
And not irrational fears.

Our lives have all been better,
Because you have been there;
So now we leave your memory,
In our hearts loving care <3

Jer,
I'm sooo shocked and saddened by your loss. I didn't know you during your police officer career as our lives took us in separate directions but when I heard you were in that line of work I knew it was a good fit for you. Obviously, from what I've read you were loved by many and had a great career in law enforcement. We hung out in the 80's and I will always have fond memories of our great times together camping, van-ins, turkey shoots, float trips, Caribbean scuba diving trip and so much more. You had a great personality and always that contagious smile on your face that I will never forget. My Deepest Sympathy goes out to Jodi, Missy, other family and friends. You will always have a special place in my heart! REST IN PEACE JERRY!

Family, Friends, Caseyville PD, Fir, City and Community.
We will always cherish the piece of a true hero. The man he became carried forth a gold compassionate soul to everyone he encountered. We live on borrowed time.No one can be sure when the loan will finally come due. The heavens Father has created for us are rejoicing for another angel has come home.
To JD's family:
You are starting a new journey forward and you will always keep him secure into you heart. He built many great memories of laughter, music, sports, fun, family love which you will hand down to your new loved ones.

I wanted to offer my condolences to Jerry's family and Tame' and daughter Libby (who I have never had the pleasure of meeting) ...I did not know Jerry really well in school in Fairview Heights and at Bellevile East but he was always a friendly guy...I saw him quite often running and jogging along the roads and streets of Fairview Heights and Caseyville...he had a dedication to people and profession and it showed! It is sad that his life ended the way it did...maybe if he knew how much he meant to others it would have made the difference needed...R.I.P.Jerry...

As a lifelong resident of Caseyville I would like to pay respect to the family of a wonderful man who always had time to put his arm around my autistic son, with the patience of Job, and bestow wisdom beyond measure. JD all your lessons have stuck and that young man heeded your warnings and advice. He is now an honors student in high school. Just one example of the lives you touched and changed. You will never be forgotten. Love and prayers to family and friends. Just know that JD is in a perfect place awaiting the beautiful reunions when we all meet again.
