I met Mel only once. That was back in the mid 60's. I was attending a day camp at the YMCA out on 158. He played ball with us and gave us some pointers. At 10 years old you don't forget a guy like Mel.

I went to high school with Mel and graduated in the same class. While I did not know him well at the time as I transferred to Belleville in 1959 he was considered the big star with his athletics. I met up with him during our last class reunion and it was great talking about what had happened throughout the years since June 1960. It was great to share years since 1960. I was looking forward to next October with our 50th. We share your grief and sorrow.

Dear Candace, Lynn, Kimberly, Darren, JD, & Family:
I'm so so sorry for your loss & so sorry it has taken me sooo long to write this! Mel was one of the most wonderful men I knew! As you all know Mel was my boss at Vatterott, but he was so much more than a boss. He was a great friend, awesome golf partner, & all around great guy! A day didn't go by (at Vatterott) without a smile and kind word from Mel!
I think of Mel often and wish it was all a dream. He will always have a place in my heart, as do all of you!
I love you all and hope you know again how sorry I am for your loss and secondly that you can always count on me for any help you might need! I will keep you all in my prayers!
God bless you all!!

Dear Larry,
I just recently heard of Mel's passing.I had the pleasure of playing baseball with him on the 1960 BTHS team and he was a truly gifted athelete and friend. My deepest sympathies to you and the family.
