It has been 3 years now since that dreary Monday morning in September. A prayer was cried out to God by a slender man in a red T shirt and it went something like this. God, you are an awesome God, and your ways are above ours. Forgive us of our sins, but most of all Lord I ask that you put your loving arms around this family. Be with them in the days, weeks, and years ahead. Jesus said to his disciples that in my father's house are many rooms. I go to prepare a place for you that where I am you may be also. Accept into your keeping your servant Nick, that he might know the gift of eternal life where there are no more tears or pain or suffering. Amen

As everyone knows, it has been a year since we lost our dear friend and fellow firefighter, Nick Rennegarbe. As firefighters and first responders we all dread going on a call to help someone we know and love. Sadly, on September 29, 2008, that call came in. Unfortunately on that day, nothing could be done to save our friend. However, we as firefighters have always been able to rely on one another in times of need and despair, and this was no exception. Nick was an outstanding firefighter and friend. He was instrumental in so many aspects of what the Addieville Fire Department is today and will be in the future. He believed in the fire service mission whole-heartedly and always gave 100% of himself when he was called upon.
Nick, though you are no longer with us, we feel your presence every time we walk into the enginehouse. Every time 4125 rolls we thing of how you loved it, and how it drove you crazy when you missed it. St. Florian is our guardian, watching over us day and night, giving us clarity to make the right decisions when it seems all hope is lost. As you stand by him, watch over us, as we will watch over Erica and young Braxton. We will continue to answer the call of our citizens and neighbors, dedicating ourselves to saving life and property, though without you it will be difficult, under your watchful eye, we will prevail

I did not know Nick. I do however know a number of quality men who speak highly of him. I need not know much more. During this holiday season I would like to extend a humbled and peaceful holiday wish to Nicks family, friends and brothers in the officiating world. Cherish these days with your loved ones.

My heart goes out to the Rennegarbe family. I had many of classes with Nick and shared many good times together. I'm so sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you.
