Rita Bruss
Rita C. Bruss, nee Monroe, 88, of Swansea, Ill., born September 18, 1927, in Belleville, Ill., died Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center, Swansea, Ill.
Mrs. Bruss worked as a cook at High Mount School in Swansea for more than 23 years. She was a member of Belleville-Swansea Women of the Moose. Rita loved playing cards, bingo, and going to casinos.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Amanda, nee Meyersick, Monroe; and a brother, Carl (Rita) Monroe.
Surviving are her husband of nearly 67 years, Orville G. Bruss, whom she married on June 11, 1949; three sons and two daughters, Gary Bruss of Highland, Ill., Michael (Juanita) Bruss of Swansea, Ill., Thomas (Jan) Bruss of New Athens, Ill., Barbara Bruss of Swansea, Ill., and Laura (Al) Davis of Swansea, Ill.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann Scott of Belleville, Ill.; a brother, Paul (Sandy) Monroe of Belleville, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at George Renner and Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016, at George Renner and Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., with Rev. Cari Frus officiating. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
