You folks are great parents to raise a great patriot son and scholar. Your son Daniel will not be forgotten. We know that freedom is not free and your son died to keep us free and we won't forget.

Any words I would write you would be dwarfed by these:
"I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom."

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel, I too lost my husband almost a year ago. I am sure Capt Bartle is up there getting my husband in line in ranks along with the rest of the ones we lost. I will light a candle in his honor. Again, I am truly sorry for your loss.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to CPT. Daniel B. Bartle our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Dan. And to Dan it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the supreme sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Dan, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,307 Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Dan's family and loved ones. Semper Fidelis !

Dan you will be so very missed. You truly had a heart of gold. Such an incredible young man. The class reunion will not be the same without you this summer. Who is going to dance for us? Thank you for all you did.

May God comfort and bring your peace during this very sad time. As a parent of two Veterans, and a Ferndale High School graduate, I just want to say that we raised young men and women, that were unselfish and truly cared to make a difference in the world. Children of God!

John and Sandy, I can not possibly feel the gief you are feeling at this time, also the extreme pride you must feel for raising a truly outstanding son. Not only in the Marines, but through out his entire life cut so short. You know where we are, please call us for anything you need. Dave & Coni Turner
