To the Dekoster family, I extend my sincere condolences. I was one of the fortunate student atheletes that had the opportunity to play under the direction of Coach Dekoster. It's evident by his win/loss record that he was an excellent coach. Everyone had a tremendous amount of respect for his abilities. I believe he was the fairest person I ever met and he had the ability to coach all different personalities successfully. What made him stand out was how he was able to relate to anyone. Even after he stopped coaching he continued to acknowledge the players he'd worked with. I spent many afternoons sitting and reminiscing with him at Homestead Farms. He'll always be my favorite coach.

Thanks for giving me a chance, Coach. You allowed me to live a dream that has lasted a lifetime.
I have told my students for thirty years that if you walked into my room and told me to run through the wall, I would do it. I respect you that much.
And I told my students that this year just a few days before I learned you passed.
Thank you for making a difference for so many. Rest well, Coach.
My condolences to Terry and all of the family.

Our condolences from the Larry Linville family. I know Larry appreciated and respected Coach DeKoster as they shared many years of friendship. He and Larry shared a similar sense of humor and love for kids and athletics. He has left an important and impressive mark on Whatcom County athletics. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
