Stephanos Papakonstantinou was born June 17, 1923 in the village of Platana, Greece. He passed away peacefully at the age of 90 after an extended illness on December 18, 2013 at his home in Athens. He was laid to rest on December 19, 2013 back at his birthplace in the village of Platana. He came to the US in 1971 after retiring as a police officer in Athens and worked at Mt. Baker Plywood for several years. In 1992, he returned to his family home in Athens where he lived until his death. During his time in Bellingham he made numerous friends and when he would come back to visit they would always gather for coffee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria, in 2000. He leaves behind son Pete (Kathy), daughter Dimitra, grandchildren Tina, Cyrena, Nikko, and Rachel all residing in Bellingham.
