I am so very sorry to read of his death. At the reception after my father's (Clayton Shaw Jr.) memorial service in Williamstown several years ago, Doug played the piano in the First Congregational Church's Fellowship Hall which brought back many happy memories of my dad's love of also playing the piano. He mentioned that his father, Clayton Sherman, had gone to school with my mother (Ruth Rowley Shaw) and remembered her well. He was a wonderful musician and friendly person whenever we met. I will miss him.

Dear family,
I worked with Doug at the Department of Transportation. He was friendly, kind and always willing to help if needed. I so admired how nice he looked in his suit and tie everyday! He always spoke about his family. He was a gentleman and I enjoyed working with him.

My sincere sympathy to you on your loss.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family but also to the many friends of Doug. I've known him my whole life being in the same church. We loved hearing him play the piano with always such flair. He had such a gift of being able to play what he heard....no music needed!! We have missed him in our midst these past few months of failing health. Music was such a part of him and he such a part of our church. It was a pleasure knowing Doug and we will miss him. Our prayers are with you.

I have such fond memories of Doug from the year I served as Interim Pastor at the Baptist Church in Hoosick Falls. He would go with me to the Health Center every month to play the piano when I led worship.
On the way back and forth we had some great conversations. He and his father were terrific people. My prayers are with you.
